About our Sarod Tutor
Arnab Bhattacharya is a sarod player playing sarod for last 25 yrs. He started learning sarod at a very tender age from his father Mr. Swapan Bhattacharya and then he came under the guidance of Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta. It was under the guidance of his guru that he achieved perfection and learnt the rich repertoire of Senia Sahajahanpur Gharana. His music is an excellent blend of traditional and modern form of Indian Classical music which sets apart as a youth face of the Indian classical music that connects to all the generations alike. And this has been possible owing to the unique ability to weave the most intricate textures even at extremely high speed maintaining the purity of the Raga which is definitely unparalleled. With this passion and dedication for music coupled with knowledge of all Gharanas and their judicious application in his performances. He tried to incorporate different styles of music in his performances taking taalims from different gurus around the globe
He completed Sangeet Prabhakar degree from Allahabad University in 1999. He was awarded in many talent search contests in India including Doverlane Music Academy in Kolkata, Arabindo Music Festival, Ankit Talent Search Contests, All India Music Competition etc. He Was awarded as Sarod Sunder from Orissa in 2005, “Sarod Nayak” award in 2007,”Nabin Sarod ” in 2009. He had successfully participated at several prestigious stages in India and abroad including Salt Lake Cultural Association, Bhowanipur Sangeet Sammilanee Kolkata, Ramakrishna Mission Bangalore and Bhubaneswar, Rajya Sangeet Academy, Raja Rani Festival, All India Music Festival, Lucknow Music Festival, Goa Music Festival, World Music Festival, Geneva Drums and Music Festival, Music Coire, Texas etc. In 2009 he was invited by the University of Geneva, Switzerland for lecture demonstration on Indian Classical Music and for participating in Seminars, workshop on World Music.
